Position Description: We would like to invite ALL students to apply to our company Banker Steel of NJ. We are currently looking for welders and fitters to fill in our day & night shifts. The first step is to apply to our website:www.bankersteelnj.com. The second step: applicants are scheduled for a welders test or fitters test. The welder’s test consists of the flux core machine and will be given metal pieces to weld with specific instructions at that very moment. The fitters test is a 3 min test, with 2 tape lines and a beam. Applicants will need to know how to read a tape line and blueprints. If you pass, we will schedule for an official interview with our plant manager on the spot which will be considered a direct hire. If applicants do not pass, we still give them the opportunity to enter the company thru our Banker U Program. The hourly rate is $16 and the course runs between 4-6 weeks. In this course, students will be taught how to fabricate steel, read our blueprints and learn everything it takes to be a good fitter. Basically, the company will pay them to learn in an actual class setting. Welders can also enter thru the Banker U program but will need to practice our type of welding after class hours. Once the course is complete, we evaluate their progress, the quality of their work and attendance. If they pass everything after the 90 days is complete, they will be officially hired and their pay will be increased to $19.05 an hour with weekly bonuses such as productivity bonuses, safety bonuses and attendance bonuses with plenty of overtime. Our next Banker U course begins on September 2nd, 2019.
